distorted images and perfectly good photo's jamming in the unit
Scanner had problems from the start, distorted images and perfectly good photo's jamming in the unit. Also the resolution is lower and very noticable compared to the Other Brands P460. Would not recommend this one.
Not to put too fine a point on it
Not to put too fine a point on it, this is a piece of sh*t. It worked for about 700 photos, ok, but then it started saving a photo that I had not scanned. To be clear, I would scan photo x and it would save photo y that I had previously scanned. I tried cleaning it, I tried rebooting it, I tried swapping chips, finally, I even tried banging it on the floor but not matter what I did it would continue to "save" old photos. Complete waste of money.

When viewing scanned photos you can see white lines in the photos. Tried to re calibrate the scanner but it d.id not help
Product was a huge disappointment...every photo scanned had lines running through them. Poor scan quality. Avoid this.
This little guy has been fantastic for quite a while
This little guy has been fantastic for quite a while. I've scanned loads of prints and negatives, and not having to have my computer has been particularly handy. It's great for taking to my parents' house for the holidays and scanning roll after roll of old film, without having to carry around a bulky setup. After a couple years now, it's now developed a white line on all the prints that it scans, and the including cleaning supplies haven't been able to clear it up. It still scans negative like a champ, though!

Works ok for about the 1st 100 pictures then you start to get Lines through all of your pictures and it makes it where its almost not even worth doing it. I returned it,

Does not reproduce true color. There are no adjustments so you have to do a lot of enhancing once you copy the picture over. Horrible product. I stopped using it shortly after I bought it.
Picture scanning quickly, negative scanning...eh
very easy to use with pictures. It's not great with negatives, but does well enough. It is hard to tell what is being scanned unless you then stop every few pictures and look at them on the computer screen.
Works great, time consuming but great
Works great, time consuming but great. Follow the directions and keep it dust free and I've had no issues.
It's OK. Great concept, but can't handle 500 scans in one single project. I had to buy another one.
It doesn't work great or for any film strip but 35mm
It doesn't work great or for any film strip but 35mm, but that makes up the majority of my old film. never really works with photos themselves and it's pretty small. Okay five stars is pretty generous, but it did what I need.
Very pleased with the product
Very pleased with the product. It has allowed me to scan thousands of snapshots and date and label them so the can be preserved. The service from Amazin was incredible! Ordered 1day, received the next! Thanks.
can't hardly beat the price and it does the job great - have used it extensively and no problems so far
Extremely poor scanning quality
I can't recommend this. It adds streaks and lines to scanned photos, even when brand new and after multiple cleanings. It's an expensive paperweight.
One touch then clean, clean again
We found this scanner to be difficult to keep clean. The scanned images would have lines in them no matter how often we cleaned the scanner. There was no savings in this one. I had hoped to be able to feed several pictures in and then upload them to the computer. As it was I had to scan and then check each photo scan to make sure the image was clear, clean the scanner and then scan again hoping for better results. Frustrating.
Great for scanning high volume of photos
The quality of scans is mediocre, but most of the photos I was scanning would not benefit from higher res scans. There is definitely a problem with streaks if you don't clean between scans. I did the clean cycle every 50 or so photos and it was fine. The streaks will show in dark backgrounds most. But with the limitations, this scanner served my needs exactly. I had a ton of old hard copy 3x5 and 4x6 photos that I needed to digitize. This scanner was very fast and easy to use. You don't even need to press a button to initiate the scan, just feed it into the slot. For the really special or old or odd size photos, I used my flatbed. But I processed about 1500 "standard size" photos in about 3 - 2 hour sessions. That included cleaning in between. That didn't include wrestling with file names within windows and other file organization tasks. I didn't use the software, I just let windows handle the viewing of the SD card when done. It's inconvenient that you can't view quickly while scanning. I tried to do this by hooking up the USB cable, but it was slower because I had to open each file after I scanned. It would be ideal if it just popped up on the fly so that you could verify that the scan came out ok. I also knew going in that the company was out of business and that I would be on my own for support. But for the price and convenience, it was worth the risk. At worst, it was $50 to save quite a bit of time compared to flat bed scanning. Each flatbed scan, even though it is of superior quality, takes at least 4 times as long, probably more like 8 times. 6 hours compared to 24 or 48 hours! The purchase was worth it even if it broke today and I never got to use it again. Trying to process a lot of photos on a flatbed is excruciating.
I have copied a few prints 21/4x21/4 Done good! Still havn't gotten to my main project.
Super little unit.
I love this thing. I am the "keeper of the pictures" in my family and I have wanted to make jpegs of the old film variety photos for such a long time. I have always had a scanner that would do them, but each photo might take a minute or two and a bunch of different steps. There is no way I would have the patience to scan each one. So I just run them through this at my leisure and I get a great little jpeg file as fast as I can slide them through. And since its a stand alone unit you don't even need you computer to help you,
Worth the money
This product worked very well. I would recommend it for converting old family photos to digital anytime.
Works like a charm
Works like a charm! Very compact size...will only work on photos up to 4" x 6" which is all I needed.
I have sixty years worth of old pictures so this was definitely the scanner for me. It fits pictures up to 4x6 and it's quick and easy. You can plug into your computer, laptop or into the wall and then transfer the sandisk to the computer. Quick and easy.
Great for the Price
So far, I'm very happy with the quality, quickness and quietness of the scans. I'm only scanning photos and am thrilled with this product. I hope by following the maintenance guidelines I will avoid problems that others have experienced.
I like it for what it is...
First this is what it is and it's *not* a high dpi scanner so you won't be able to make wall murals (or even 8x10s) from the resulting image. But I didn't expect to get that for $39.00. I purchased this to scan hundreds of b&w (mostly) and color 35mm negatives my family had taken in the 70s and 80s for the local newspaper (Mom was a reporter). I won't be printing these images but rather post them to the community's Facebook group. I was able to scan about 100 36-exposure rolls in less than a day. All of these negatives were Kodak film, btw. The quality of the scan is perfect for images uploaded to the web. The speed is quick and cleaning and calibration is easy and only needed every couple hundred negs. Note that this WILL NOT scan any negatives larger or smaller than 35mm. I tried... not possible with this machine. So for the larger, older 620 film I'm going to lay a lightbox over the negs and scan on the flatbed. All-in-all well worth the money!
Good little machine
No problems with this machine, I only wish it would work on bigger pix. Remember to do the cleaning as mentioned in other reviews otherwise you will get lines.
Scanned Lines Show and Grainy
Pro: Only good thing was the small size. Cons: Oh where to start...first I didn't like that after using the scanner for 5 minutes lines started showing up on my scanned 4x6 pictures like the rollers that grabbed the picture were making streaks on my photos. When I watch these photos back on my "digital photo frame" the pictures are very grainy and have those awful horizontal lines through them. I lost a whole year of digital photos, but have the 4x6 printed photos in a box. So I wanted to scan the whole year in and save it to my computer. With that being said...I didn't like that after I scanned my stack of "January" photos in, then cut/pasted to the appropriate file, the "February" photos wouldn't show up until all of the "January" photos were scanned in again. In other words, you cannot cut/paste from the SD card they provide (nor your own SD card) until you are all done with every photo (in my case I had hundreds from Jan-Dec that I had to find and separate manually after all scanning was done). It's just the way the scanner & it's software works. I also didn't like that the photos wouldn't stack easily after going through the scanner. They would get caught on the cords in the back and get out of order, so I would scan each photo in and grab it from the back just so things would stay in order. I wish this scanner would scan back to front or upside down so you don't have to put your photos back in the correct order either. I wish I would have returned this scanner while I had the 1 month allowed time from Amazon, but I missed the window of opportunity and now I'm stuck with a scanner that works very mediocre. My advice is to save up and buy something more advanced and has better reviews and has holder for the photos to slide onto. You will regret buying this thing if you do lots of 4x6 scanning using cut/paste to organize your computer files. I found this scanner wasn't very compatible with my Windows 8 laptop. Maybe I'll sell it at a garage sale and get one whole dollar for it! That's what I think it's worth after using it for the last few months.
Don't recommend it.
It leaves a thick line smudge down each picture scanned. We are considering returning it. The idea was to be able to save all our pictures in digital format.
Fast and easy
I was skeptical when I ordered this little scanner because of the low price and small size. I was pleasantly surprise how fast it was and how clear the scans were. What would of took me days to do on a flatbed scanner took me an afternoon. I do wish the dpi could be raised but all in all this is a great scanner. What would of took me weeks to do on a flatbed scanner took me an afternoon.
Been wanting one for so long. I guess more expensive ones are better but this works great for me. Once most of your ola negatives are enlarger to view on your computer screen you realize that your cameria skills are not as good as they are when seen on a snap shot print.
Bought this for my wife to copy old photos in to the computer. Worked so well I recently bought the larger one so she can do some of the larger photos.
